My story

I’m a Doctor, and worked for over 20 years in the NHS as a GP with particular interest in Cancer.  But I had an idea that I’d love to coach and so I retrained as a transformational coach, and left the NHS in 2017.  

Every idea starts with a problem. 

The problem is that too many AMAZING women are burning out, or pulling back from reaching their potential because they’re spinning plates, fire-fighting, and people-pleasing.  

“You can have it all!” became “You can DO it all!” and this isn’t serving you well.

As a doctor, I struggled to find the balance between ambition and empathy. I wanted to hang on to my sensitive side and be authentic, but I was working in a tough environment.  I felt like I had to build walls in order to survive and I didn’t want to. 

I was in danger of burning out.

I couldn’t find a role model, so I set out to learn the skills and habits that would help me thrive. My journey took me to unexpected places!  I soon realised that, to truly thrive, I needed to learn to manage the inner voice that pulled me back, made me doubt myself, and stopped me from asking for what I needed.

I’m not here to be your guru (or your doctor)!  I know that you have incredible skills and you will already have given great thought to your challenges. 

My expertise is in meeting you where you are, and helping you make sense of it all, in a confidential and empowering space, so that your best ideas and solutions become clear. 

 

My writing

My article about Self Compassion was published in Psychologies Magazine in September 2020 and subsequently featured again as a Dossier special in September 2021. Psychologies subscribers are also able to access my four-part course The Burnout Antidote.

I’ve been featured twice in Thrive Global, talking about self-compassion, and also explaining how people-pleasing contributes to the risk of burnout. Working from home, managing family and work, dealing with anxieties related to world events, there are many reasons to look after your mental health.  In this article, I share 5 powerful steps to help you transform your well-being.

My passions

Just like you, I have multiple roles in my life!

I’m a Mum, wife, daughter, sister and friend.

I live near Bristol, UK and I’m lucky enough to live in a rural area that allows me to connect with nature, daily.

My passions are walking in the hills or by the sea, swimming (in cold water), paddle-boarding and camping.  My work is my main passion, but when I’m not with my clients I’m at my happiest eating breakfast in a field with family and friends, or pottering around my garden.
